  Introduction:   Approximately  1 in 3,000 people in the United States  experience an  anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury . These injuries often occur among young and active individuals, and they are more common in females than males, even among those who participate in the same sports. The ACL is one of the most commonly injured ligaments in the knee, and it can occur alongside damage to other knee structures like the meniscus. Here are some key points about ACL injuries: Anatomy of the Knee: The knee joint is formed by three bones: the femur (thighbone), tibia (shinbone), and patella (kneecap). Ligaments hold these bones together and provide stability.
